Be open to innovation and unexpected courses of action. Do not hesitate to embrace innovation, even if it does not have immediate application. Help others add to those ideas within the whole.

Don't just fly by the seat of your pants. Instead, pick up a book and read. Don't just read books about business leadership, either. You may find useful bits of knowledge that can be applied to your role as business leader in many different types of books, even those that tell fictional stories!

Try your best to be an approachable leader. There are a great number of people who assume that ruling with an iron fist and intimidation are the right way to show leadership. Let your employees know that you support them, since you have the responsibility to see that they perform well.

Those who report to you are likely to judge you based on your decisions. Their opinions of you is affected by who gets assigned vital projects, and by who you fire, hire and promote. If you show favoritism, it will cause your employees to think less of you.

As a leader, it is important that you set a good example to others. It can be fun to join the workforce for picnics and other activities outside of work. This helps to form good relationships. However, think twice before you join in on Friday tavern nights, poker games or other activities that could damage your leadership role. It is important to keep some things separate from the workforce.

Leadership can make the difference between a successful business and one that doesn't succeed. People work harder for those who know how to get the best out of them. Use the tips your learned here to lead people to greatness. You don't have to be the toughest, hardest working person in the world, but you do have to know how to lead. Good Luck.
